ADK Participates in CBEMR Mangrove Restoration Training
Our Marine Ecologist, Miriam Vihenda, had the privilege of representing the Avatari Development Kenya team at a specialised training on Community-Based Ecological Mangrove Restoration (CBEMR). The training aimed to build the skills and expertise of coastal stakeholders, enabling them to plan and implement effective mangrove restoration initiatives using CBEMR best practices.
This approach emphasises working with natural systems by restoring key ecological functions particularly tidal flows and site hydrology to promote long-term and resilient mangrove regeneration, rather than relying solely on tree planting.
We extend our appreciation to Wetlands International Eastern Africa and WWF-Kenya for convening a diverse group of civil society organisations, local communities, conservation practitioners, and dedicated mangrove champions from across Kenya’s coastal counties. Such collaborations are vital in advancing sustainable and impactful restoration efforts.
As ADK, we remain committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to achieve healthy, restored ecosystems and long-term environmental sustainability
